In a recent interview, Alize Cornet disclosed that she will play in front of her home audience at the 2024 French Open to round off her professional tennis career.
The former world No. 11 will retire after making her 69th consecutive major appearance, a run that began at the 2007 Australian Open. She has an amazing Open Era record of competing in 68 consecutive Grand Slam events. When Cornet made her Roland Garros main-draw debut in 2005, she was barely 15, marking the beginning of her Grand Slam adventure. She will say farewell to her favourite sport at the same location twenty years from now.
At No. 107 right now, Cornet is anticipated to get a wildcard into Roland Garros 2024’s main draw, which will be her 20th consecutive trip to the prestigious Paris competition. Over her career, Cornet has won six WTA singles titles.
