On Instagram, Maria Timofeeva shared a very surprising account of how she was robbed in Spain twice in less than six months, with someone taking 10,000 euros from her bank card each time.

In the Madrid Open qualifying event earlier this week, Timofeeva defeated Fiona Ferro in the opening set but fell to Harriet Dart in the final match. A few days after missing out on the Madrid main draw, Timofeeva wanted to let her supporters know about something and ask for their support.

Timofeeva claims that although she had her bank card with her for most of the transaction, someone made multiple purchases from her account. Additionally, Timofeeva reports that she usually receives a confirmation code on her phone after a purchase, but this time it wasn’t sent.

She wrote in a post on Instagram: “Here I am back in Spain six months later and I’ve been robbed again. So I would like to share my story and could use some advice from people who might have been in a similar situation before or tell me how it could happen. Yeah, let’s get to it. So apparently, in the past few days that I’ve been here in Madrid, someone has been spending money from my bank account and spent little more than €10,000. I’m freaking out because I don’t know how it could happen.”

She added: “Physically, my card was with me most of the time, except for one episode when I left it in my room while the room was being cleaned by the maids of the hotel I’m staying in. I don’t know what else to say. The circumstances are crazy and I don’t know how it could happen so please share something and be aware of people in Spain and of these situations because it’s happening every (expletive) time I’m coming here and this is getting out of control.”
