Iga Swiatek disclosed that she wasn’t too concerned about facing Emma Raducanu after defeating the British player in the Stuttgart Open quarterfinals. Even though Raducanu put up a strong fight against the top-ranked player in the world, Swiatek prevailed in straight sets, but not before making him work hard.
Despite enduring a challenging few years, Raducanu’s prominence and celebrity status have allowed her to remain one of the most well-known female players. But according to Swiatek, Raducanu is not more of a draw than any other player competing in the WTA circuit.
Swiatek expressed her remarks about Raducanu and said: “I mean, for fans, for sure, it’s nice. I mean, we have plenty of players to play against on the WTA Tour. I wouldn’t say Emma is the one specific that I’m looking forward to playing with, because we have tough matchups, you know, every week. Doesn’t matter for me.”
Swiatek added: “I never knew she was capable of that and today I knew that. I think she has a really good placement. She was serving, you know, even though it wasn’t like 180, it was sometimes on the line and pretty tricky, so she’s mixing it up. Yeah, she has a pretty good serve, so I wouldn’t say there was much difference in that. But for sure, you know, she’s older, she has learned a lot. I would say the intensity was a little bit higher, yeah.”
