Isner blasts 20 aces to upset Djokovic – 2012 ATP Indian Wells – Semifinal – Video Interview

John was right although not many people could beleive him. He clearly stated that he was confident he could win the tournament.

You know… if you think thyat in the same tournament there are other 3 players such as Djokovic, Nadal and Federer around, you may think that John got a bit … a bit.. ehm.. he lost it! Not true! He was right and his confidence made him beat Novak (not an easy one…).

The interesting thing is that Novak at the end of the day won more points (117-106) and he broke Isner twice (he was broke only one), but apparently the 6 feet 9 inches could play another 2 perfect tiebreaks (a huge weapon).

“I knew going into this year that I had the tools and I had the game to be able to, you know, at least compete with these guys,” Isner said. “I take the court no matter who I’m playing expecting to win and believing to win. There’s really no reason to take the court if I believe otherwise.”

“It’s a matter of belief, I think, in the end, and confidence on the court,” Djokovic said  “I mean, with that serve and with that forehand he’s got the ability to be a top-10 player. He had that already a couple years back. It’s just, you know, a matter of really trusting your instincts and your strokes and your quality. I think it all came together for him now, and he’s deservedly in the top 10 now.”

Isner will play Federer in the final. Head-to-Head is Federer 2-1. Bust last time they played John defeated the Maestro  at the Davis Cup in Basel 4-6 6-3 7-6(4) 6-2. You can expected Roger chasing a revenge..
