As an incredible 24-hour period came to a close, Alex de Minaur was seen giving tennis fans the finger. The world No. 1 seed from Australia lost in straight sets at the Barcelona Open, just one day after becoming the first person from that country to defeat Rafael Nadal on clay.
Despite appearing to be de Minaur’s sole opponent on the day, Arthur Fils defeated him 7-5 6-2 to advance to the quarterfinals. While the game was going on, De Minaur was seen giving the Fils fans the finger.
However, de Minaur seemed to have been turned off by the Barcelona audience in some way. The wild scenes were largely similar to what Australian fans had provided for locals during the Australian Open.
