Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic are the top 2 Australian players, but funny enough both have been left out the prestigious nominations for the Newcombe medal awarded to the “most outstanding elite tennis player and ambassador”. The exclusion came after both players had a rather embarrassing behaviour in 2015 on and off-court, but besides that… well no one can say that they do not have a huge potential.
Newcombe: How they can be top10 players
The tennis legend explains how Bernie and Nick can break in the top10 “[Tomic] is probably happy with his fitness, but for a guy his size, he has to be exceptionally fit in order to get his mobility moving around the court. If he does that he can get in the top 10.”
Talking about Kyrgios, Newcombe commented “Everybody is on his side. He’s definitely a top10 potential player, but all the other stuff has to go away because it doesn’t happen when you’re doing all the other stuff.”
