It seems to be a close affair between the two. It is not by chance they occupy the first 2 spots in the WTA ranking!
During her semifinal, Azarenka had a solid tennis and there was also some swirling breezes to deal with.
‘It was a little bit difficult, especially from one side but it made it more interesting, a lot more adversity and challenge for both of us. Overall I played pretty good on the return. I really was impressed by the way Angelique was playing. She really pushed me to raise my level and really dig to win that match.’
‘I am so excited, it’s the first time for me to be in the final here,’ she added ‘It’s a great event and I love playing here.’
Kerber was not so excited ‘My serve was not the best today and she returns unbelievable,’ said the German. ‘If I was a little bit defensive and just put the ball in the court, she made the winners. She’s a great player and she plays very good in these moments.’
Azarenka will play Sharapova that benefited from an injury suffered by Ana Ivanovic to her left hip
This was a big pity since the Serbian was clearly back to top form. But it was clear everythng was over when a tearful Ana said to the empire a telling ‘I can’t play, I can’t push.’
So what else? Waiting for a great final and (given the expected) grunts also ready to lower the volume of the TV or to wear hear plugs… but carefull the these two will play each other much more.. so .. better buying a big stock of hear plugs! (see articles here for some fun)
