While Emma Raducanu admits that clay isn’t the best surface for her right now, she believes that in the future it will be excellent for her style of play.

Raducanu, the winner of the US Open in 2021, has so far mostly competed on hard or grass grounds since she enjoys faster surfaces.

Since becoming a professional, Raducanu has only made 14 appearances on clay. However, the 21-year-old British player is focusing on enhancing her clay court skills and feels she has a bright future there.

Raducanu defeated Caroline Garcia 3-6 6-3 6-2 in the second match of their Billie Jean King Cup qualifying match against France on Friday in her first clay court match of the year. Raducanu won another match on clay the next day, defeating Diane Parry 4-6 6-1 7-6 (1).

Raducanu expressed her thoughts about it and said: “I think, in the future, it’s going to be a surface that will suit me. Maybe I’m a little bit away from that right now. But I’m enjoying the challenge of it.”
