Holger Rune blasts ATP for scheduling in Monte Carlo

After losing in the Monte Carlo Masters quarterfinals, Holger Rune slammed the ATP officials, specifically pointing up issues with scheduling and umpiring.

Rune Slams ATP

Holger Rune criticized the ATP authorities after losing in the quarterfinals of the Monte Carlo Masters, citing problems with scheduling and umpiring in particular. Jannik Sinner defeated Rune in the quarterfinals to advance to the next round.

Even though the match was highly competitive, Rune’s time violation at 5-5 in the second set became the major talking point.

Rune was then met with booing from the crowd and appeared to be compelling them to shut up with a wave of his hand. Rune’s response did not appear to impress chair umpire Damien Dumusois, who then gave him a code violation for acting in an unsportsmanlike manner.

Rune praised Sinner on social media for winning the match when it ended, but he later published a second message criticizing the ATP.

Rune wrote on X: “Meaning what @atptour…..? Not that you gave me the best conditions in the first place having to play 2 matches the day before ending late, leaving almost no recovery time. Chair Umpire making crucial mistakes and giving wrong warnings that disturbed the game. May the force be with you. Jesus Christ.”
