At the 2024 Monte-Carlo Masters, Holger Rune’s mother Aneke recently praised her son’s incredible achievement of playing eight sets in around twenty-four hours.
Rune defeated Sumit Nagal in a thrilling set of sets on Thursday, winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. Subsequently, in three hours, the Dane overcame Grigor Dimitrov, 7-6(9), 3-6, 7-6(2). In the first set, Rune saved a set point; in the third set, he saved a match point against the Bulgarian.
The 20-year-old faced Jannik Sinner in another hard-fought three-set battle the next day that lasted almost three hours. Rune forced a third set after saving two match chances in the second and ultimately lost 4-6, 7-6(6), 3-6.
Aneke posted a lengthy post on Dane’s campaign on her Instagram account. Aneke recognized the difficult circumstances that her son had succeeded so brilliantly under.
She wrote a caption:Â “Not easy conditions. Bravo Holger.”

Now the world no.7, Rune played his last match on the 12th of April when he surrendered to world no.2 Jannik Sinner 6-4 6-7(6) 6-3 in the quarter in Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters (draw).
This season Holger has achieved a compiled 15-8 match record. Holger Rune’s most significant result of the present year was getting to the final in Brisbane.
