Italian tennis prodigy Jannik Sinner recently reflected on his adaptation to clay courts this season, noting both progress and areas for growth. Despite feeling more comfortable on the surface due to improved physicality, Sinner acknowledges that he has yet to reach his desired level.
When asked about his adjustment to clay compared to previous seasons, Sinner pointed out that while it wasn’t necessarily easier, his enhanced physical condition has facilitated the transition. He emphasized the importance of confidence and strength on clay, highlighting the role they play in his performance.
“I think it’s, I won’t say easier, but for sure the physicality, I have grown, and especially on this surface can help a lot. If you feel more confident, then stronger physically,” Sinner remarked.
However, Sinner clarified that despite the quicker adaptation, he hasn’t fully reached his ideal level of play. He expressed determination to continue improving in the coming days and weeks, striving to feel more at ease on the clay courts.
“I wouldn’t say that it was easier, but I got a little bit faster to the point where I would like to be. For sure I’m not where I want to be, but we are trying to build on, in the next days and in the next weeks, trying to feel more comfortable,” Sinner explained.
