Nadal heading to Barcelona on Wednesday hoping to play the ATP 500

Rafael Nadal is thinking of playing a new comeback event after being forced to withdraw from the Monte Carlo Masters. The Spaniard hasn't taken part in a formal match since suffering an injury in January.

Nadal Ready To Make A Comeback

After having to withdraw from the Monte Carlo Masters, Rafael Nadal is considering a new comeback event. Due to an injury sustained in January, the Spaniard has not participated in an official match. To try to make a comeback on the clay, he is now scheduled to depart for his upcoming tournament on Wednesday.

The 37-year-old revealed that despite continuing to practice in the hopes of competing in other tournaments on the clay, which is his most successful surface, his body would not allow him to compete in Monte Carlo this week. And now that his travel schedule has been made public, Nadal may return to competition as early as next week.

Media reports claim that Nadal has stated that he will visit Barcelona the following week in preparation for his ATP 500 return.

Nadal recently stated: “I have got abdominal issues for a few months. I’m moving forward day by day, week by week. I’m not ruling anything out but I can’t say that I’ll play here or there. I would love to be able to play in Barcelona, and otherwise, it will be Madrid.”
