Rafael Nadal has already hinted that 2024 may be his last year competing in professional tennis. Even if he might be passionate about the game, he probably doesn’t need to push himself to keep participating in tournaments. Though his physique isn’t letting him, he may like to play more this year.

Nadal might make a comeback in time to compete in the clay court tournaments at the Barcelona Open and Madrid Open in May, ahead of the French Open. However, Nadal tends to pull out just when he’s about to play. He simply cannot predict how well his body will endure.

In a recent interview, Nadal disclosed his most recent injury and the likelihood that he will make a quick recovery.

About his current injury, Nadal said: “I have had abdominal problems since I returned from Australia. We are trying things. We are going day by day. My body won’t let me. It’s getting difficult for me. It’s been a difficult year and a half, I’m trying every day. I have things to solve, and the reality is that at the moment I’m not being able to put myself in a position to compete. It’s hard. I don’t rule out anything, not even being in Barcelona or Madrid, but at the moment, I am not able to get there due to physical problems.”
