At the Monte-Carlo Masters 2024 pre-tournament press conference, Carlos Alcaraz expressed his enthusiasm for returning to the tournament despite a disappointing experience there last year. He looked forward to facing Jannik Sinner again, regardless of the surface, acknowledging Sinner’s excellence on all surfaces and their previous clay court encounter where Sinner emerged victorious.
Alcaraz discussed his quick adaptation to the clay surface and his eagerness to start the tournament in good shape. He also mentioned his desire to play doubles with Rafael Nadal at the Olympics but acknowledged that it was still four months away.
Alcaraz reflected on his childhood inspiration from Nadal’s success in the tournament and addressed his current ranking position behind Nadal, emphasizing that it did not significantly impact him and that he remained determined to regain the number two or number one spot.
