Danielle Collins has shared details of how she first met her boyfriend Bryan and opened up about their relationship.
After her victory in the Miami Open, Collins continued to the semifinals of the Charleston Open, demonstrating her remarkable form. The American advanced to the WTA 500 event’s last four with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Elise Mertens, her 11th consecutive victory.
After a demanding workweek, the 30-year-old received extra encouragement from her boyfriend who travelled from Boston to support her during her victory. Following her Wimbledon exit, Collins disclosed that she and Bryan had been dating for some time after their first meeting in a London coffee shop.
Collins expressed her remarks about it and said: “Yeah, Bryan made the trip from Boston. He’s had a really busy work week. We have been going out for a while now. We met at a coffee shop in London so that was pretty exciting. I didn’t think I would meet someone at a coffee shop. Who would have thought? Just after the tournament, Wimbledon.”
Collins revealed that when they first met, Bryan knew nothing about tennis or that she was a professional player. She claimed to find this thrilling and added that it’s enjoyable to be able to develop and learn alongside one another.
She further added: “He didn’t know anything about tennis, and he didn’t know I was a tennis player, which was nice. He was a bigger fan of golf and so he said, ‘Well I like golf. I don’t know much about tennis.’ And I was like, ‘Yes! That’s so exciting. Because it’s fun to kind of be around someone that has interests in other things and that’s not as familiar with the sport because you get to learn and grow with them and help them.”
