Sonego had a pretty good kick start of the set after breaking Sumit Nagal in the 2nd game (2-0) before consolidating his break and lead 5-0. The Indian managed to strengthen his lead after breaking Sonego in the 4th (4-0) game before conquering the set (6-1).

An important stage of this set was when the Indian won 5 consecutive games in the 1st set to bring the scoreline from 0-0 to 5-0.
