According to a reliable news source, Novak Djokovic and Goran Ivanisevic got into a heated dispute in Indian Wells that effectively ended their partnership and sealed the fate of what was already beginning to become an extremely difficult one.
Despite not being a participant at the Miami Masters last week, Djokovic made headlines when he revealed he was splitting ways with his longtime coach Ivanisevic. Although it was unexpected, Djokovic and Ivanisevic’s split was not unexpected; in fact, there were hints that something similar would occur.
However, a new report suggests that Djokovic’s poor play wasn’t the only reason for their separation. Tennis analyst Craig Shapiro claims that during a practice session at Indian Wells, Ivanisevic objected to Djokovic’s effort, and the Serb likewise reacted angrily.
Shapiro was the first to disclose on March 21st that Djokovic would be considering a significant change in his coaching arrangement, suggesting that his sources are quite reliable. Shapiro’s article at the time also hinted that there might be differing opinions over the Serb’s schedule.
Shapiro wrote on X: “Been told that everything officially fell apart after a big argument over Novak’s effort in practice in Indian Wells. Speaking of Novak, Just learned from inside sources that Novak is unhappy with his team and is going to be making some changes. Will focus on the clay, is unsure about playing Wimbledon as he is hyper-focused on winning Olympic Gold in Roland Garros.”
