Djokovic, Nadal and Federer reach the last 8 – 2012 ATP Indian Wells – Video Interview

2012 Novak is definately not 2011 Novak (but he is still damn good). The Serbian had a surprisingly difficult match with Andujar.

After an embarassing first set (Novak had it 6-0), the Spaniard bounced back in style to win the second at the tiebreak (at 5). Then the quality of the world nr.1 kicked in and it was a ruthless 6-2.

‘It’s a fourth-round match and my opponent today is a really quality player who deserves to be at this stage of the tournament,’ said Djokovic.’In the end, I was lucky to get through some points. I am happy to get through to the next round.’

Rafa, well what can you expect…, is Rafa. The Mallorcan machine conceded only 5 games to Dolgopolov (still a wonderful,  funny and enjoyable player… but he has to improve something to compete with the top guys).

An ailing Roger (still struggling with the flu) had a tricky task with Bellucci. The Brazilian played an amazing 1st set (Roger loook also quite sluggish and definately not in perfect conditions). Then the quality and the experience of the Swiss Maestro (alongside with the nerves of the Brazilian gave the match to the world nr.1.

‘I struggled early on making the transition from day to night,’ said Federer, ‘I thought I would see quicker improvements, but still hurting a bit. But at least I don’t have sort of a massive headache and aches and pains anymore.’

‘These are the wins that sort of almost feel better, to be quite honest, because when you’re playing great, it’s simple, it’s easy, right?’ the Maestro  said. ‘But when it’s not going your way and things are difficult, that’s kind of the good wins.’

And… Almagro trashed Berdych (6-4 6-0) and the good new is that this time the Czech did shake hands… Remember the mess at the Australian Open?
