Young tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz recently had the opportunity to interact with two iconic figures in the music industry, Drake and Lil Wayne, after attending the Miami Heat vs Golden State Warriors game on Tuesday (March 26).
Aubrey Graham, known as Drake, holds a remarkable record as the only music artist to chart over 300 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, solidifying his position as one of the highest-selling artists in music history. Similarly, Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., also known as Lil Wayne, boasts nine Platinum albums, placing him in the same league as the Canadian rapper Drake.
Both Drake and Lil Wayne were present at the NBA regular season game in Miami, where the Golden State Warriors emerged victorious with a 113-92 win over the Miami Heat. Alcaraz, currently ranked No. 2 in the world, was also among the notable attendees, enjoying the basketball action after securing a Round of 16 victory at the Miami Open.
Following the game’s conclusion, Carlos Alcaraz had the opportunity to meet Lil Wayne courtside. The two shared a moment together, capturing the interaction with a photo where they sported smiles and exchanged gestures of mutual respect. The 20-year-old tennis star later shared the snapshot on his Instagram stories.
Subsequently, Alcaraz crossed paths with Drake at an after-party in Miami. Clearly thrilled at meeting the acclaimed musician, Alcaraz shared a photo of their encounter on social media, captioning it with “@champagnepapi 🤯🔥🔝.”
Drake and Lil Wayne’s connection to tennis extends beyond this encounter. In his rap songs ‘Worst Behaviour’ and ‘Sticky,’ Drake has referenced legendary players Serena Williams and Rafael Nadal, respectively. Similarly, Lil Wayne has also mentioned Nadal in his lyrics and famously predicted Nadal and Kim Clijsters as the US Open men’s and women’s singles champions in a Sports Illustrated column from prison in September 2010.
