The tennis fans in Rome and the organizers of the upcoming ATP1000 will be elated to have Roger Federer playing in Italy.
The Swiss legend announced his presence on Twitter saying: “Hello everybody. I have just finished speaking to the team, and I am happy to say that I am coming back to Rome to play in Italy. I can’t wait. It’s so exciting. It’s been too long. I’ll see you there.
Ciao a tutti.”
Roger was not sure about his participation in Rome, and he always said that he wanted to wait until the end of his campaign in Madrid. However, the Swiss crashed out in the quarters in Spain, and he believes that he has still fuel in the tank to compete in Italy.
Even if Roger didn’t go too deep in Spain, he played rather good tennis and therefore, this could be the right choice.
The last time that Federer played in Rome was back in 2016 when he lost (also) to Dominic Thiem in the 3rd round 7-6 (2) 6-4.
