At Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday, Jannik Sinner prevailed over a tough test against Tallon Griekspoor to maintain his Miami Open campaign.
At the ATP Masters 1000 event in Florida, the Italian player defeated the Dutch player in six sets, seven sets, and one set to win the third round. Griekspoor was leading 7-5, 3-3 when an unexpected rainfall earlier forced the players from the court. However, Sinner came back stronger and won in two hours and twenty-three minutes.
Sinner stated his remarks after the win and said: “I think even the first set was close, but it went away. I think mentally I tried to stay strong, which I did, and I was in a tough situation today. After the rain came, I tried to come back a bit more aggressively, which I did, and obviously, I’m really happy. It’s been a tough day for me, but I’m very happy about the result.”
When questioned about his frequent use of wide serves against Griekspoor, Sinner responded: “I think it just opens the court more. You have to adapt. Sometimes you don’t feel it so much so you go more to the T, but it’s all part of where I need to be very clear in my mind and focused about what I am doing.”
