Roger Federer starts the bid for his 7th title in Basel in great fashion. The world no.3 demolishes Kukushkin (an indoor specialist!) 6-1 6-2 in just 55 minutes.
There was absolutely no match as King Roger was in utter control from the very beginning to race to a 5-0 lead in no time. After winning the opener (in 22 minutes!) , the Swiss Legend won 5 consecutive games (again!) after being 1-2 down.

Federer: I had a good start
Roger was extremely weary of this first round especially after his shocking loss in the Shanghai opener “I got off to a good start, which was a goal of mine.
Once in the lead, I was able to stretch that and keep pressure on my opponent. I’m very pleased for a first round, especially after Shanghai.”
Next vs. Kohlschreiber
Roger will play Phillip Kohlschreiber in the 2nd round. Head to head is 10-0 for Federer, but you can never trust the German.
