It was no secret that Lleyton Hewitt would have been the new Davis Cup captain after Masur. The Australian Federation makes a move to now officialise the appointment as Hewitt will officially end his career at the upcoming Australian Open.
Hewitt is very happy for the appointment to comment “I’ve always made it my main priority to play for Australia … and that’s something I want to take into my captaincy. I’m absolutely rapt to be here and to be leading this great nation.”
Lleyton will start his new job against the USA in March (4th -> 6th). Let’s see how it goes.
