Carlos Alcaraz said just two weeks ago that he was lacking confidence due to physical and mental issues, but after winning the Indian Wells Open, he confessed that he was feeling fantastic.

Alcaraz had a shaky start to the 2024 season after losing to Alexander Zverev in the Australian Open quarterfinal and being taken aback by Nicolas Jarry in the Argentina Open semifinal.

His confidence had completely gone by the time he arrived in Indian Wells, and he was uncertain whether his injuries would allow him to defend his Indian Wells Open title.

Alcaraz expressed his thoughts after the win and said: “Let’s say the last two months were difficult for me to find myself. I didn’t enjoy, let’s say, stepping on the court. I wasn’t myself on the court the last two months—let’s say, two months, three months—so it was difficult for me. It was difficult for me because I didn’t find myself. I was struggling to enjoy myself on the court. My family, my team, and people close to me were telling me, that what happened to me, that I was not smiling as much as I was doing before.”

The Miami Open is coming up, and his rivals have been warned that he is feeling like his old self again, which can only mean terrible news for them.

Alcaraz said: “I’m feeling great, with a lot of confidence right now. I think I’m playing great tennis. I’m really happy to be here in Miami again, a really special place for me where I’ve shown great tennis in the past few years. I’m feeling great physically and mentally and I’m ready for this tournament.”
