Coco Gauff shares her personal connection to the local park, where she learned the game from her father. The two courts at Pompey Park hold significant meaning to her, as they are where her father taught her tennis one-on-one. Recently, Gauff held a tennis clinic in her hometown of Delray Beach while unveiling renovations to the childhood tennis courts, which are part of the US Open Legacy initiative.

The US Open pledged $3 million to revitalize tennis courts nationwide, and Pompey Park was chosen due to its importance in Gauff’s story and her family’s history. The kids in attendance were excited to wear her shoes and t-shirts, which featured the coordinates to Pompey Park, and one six-year-old was left speechless after getting a hug from her idol.
