Nadal wins epic against Rosol

Lukas Rosol doesn’t awake great memories for Nadal and his fans. The Spanish Legend suffered from an unforeseen upset at the hands of the Czech in Wimbledon 2012 and all the time that the Mallorcan is meant to play against him there are hints that a tough match is about to come. This happened yesterday as Rafa recovered a terrible 6-1 5-4 30-0 (Rosol’ serve) deficit to eventually win 1-6 7-5 7-6 (4).  Nadal won this match even if he scored 5 points less than Rosol (91- 96)

2 key moments

There were 2 key moments. The first one when Rafa won 8 of 9 games since he was 3-5 down in the second set to grab a 1-6 7-5 4-1 lead. Then after Nadal squandered the advantage in the decider, we had a second crucial stint when Nadal recovered a 0-3 deficit in the 3rd set tiebreak to win 5 consecutive points when he was then 2-4 down.

Nadal: It was tough

Rafa commented “It was tough for me to get into the match. It was a little bit of everything. A little bit of luck, a little bit of belief, to keep fighting for this match. That’s what I did.”

Rafa will play either Dimitrov or Stakhovsky in the next round.
