Matteo Berrettini, currently competing in the Phoenix Challenger 2024, recently engaged in a lighthearted Q&A session with the ATP Challenger Tour, offering glimpses into his personal and professional life.

Despite his busy schedule on the court, Berrettini took the time to address popular questions surrounding his identity and preferences. One of the initial queries focused on the pronunciation of his name, to which he clarified, “Is it ‘Mateo’ or ‘Matteo’? Guys, two Ts, two Ts, Matteo. ‘Mateo’ I think is more like Spanish vibes. In Italy, we use a lot of double letters.”

The 27-year-old also opened up about his affinity for tattoos, acknowledging his grandmother’s disapproval of his inked body. “Yeah, I have quite a lot. My grandma is not happy about it but I think I have 11. I have a feeling that it’s going to be more soon but yeah, I just love them so can’t help it,” Berrettini shared candidly.

In response to a question about his striking appearance, Berrettini attributed his good looks to his mixed heritage, blending Brazilian and Italian ancestry. “Uhm… I think good genes. Brazilian genes in me, Italian. I didn’t do anything, it was just a gift I guess… so embarrassing,” he modestly remarked.

As Berrettini continues to excel on the tennis court, fans appreciate these glimpses into his off-court persona, further solidifying his connection with the tennis community. Amidst his pursuit of success in the Phoenix Challenger and beyond, Berrettini’s authenticity and humor shine through, endearing him to fans worldwide.
