Carlos Alcaraz recently became honest and admitted that he genuinely wants to play like Roger Federer, while pointing out that Rafael Nadal is his inspiration.
Alcaraz added that he plays more like Federer than Nadal and that he would love to face the legendary Swiss player at some point.
Alcaraz’s excellent range of skills has given rise to comparisons with Federer, Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. In terms of tactics, the two-time Grand Slam champion is more similar to Federer than the other two members of the ‘Big Three’ because of his offensive approach and versatility.
After defeating Fabian Marozsan in the Indian Wells fourth round, Alcaraz was asked in an interview which retired tennis greats he would have preferred to have faced.
Alcaraz stated his remarks about it and said: “I always say that my idol is Rafa but I want to say that I want to play like Roger. I’m not gonna lie; you know, his style, his elegance on the court are something amazing. I’ve said many times that my game is more similar to Roger’s game and I would like to play like him. I would love to play against him, at least just once, but yeah, I hope to do it.”
