Jankovic triumphs in Hong Kong

Jelena Jankovic wins her 15th career (the 2nd of 2015) title in Hong Kong after a fierce fight against Angelique Kerber.

In the final Jelena had to come from behind to win. After losing the opening set 6-3, the Serbian won a tricky second set (full of breaks) at the breaker. Eventually the German imploded in the decider to concede the trophy to Jelena. The final result was 3-6 7-6 (4) 6-1.

 

Jankovic: It was an amazing week

Jelena commented “I had an amazing week in Hong Kong. It’s been unbelievable – Hong Kong is such a beautiful city, it’s my second time here and I’m really falling in love with it.

And Angie, thank you so much for letting me win today! You’ve beaten me so many times, so I’m happy I could finally do it. You’re an amazing competitor and fighter and I’m sure we’ll play again soon.”

Jelena is now meant to play in Luxembourg where she is expected to play Mandy Minella in the opener. She might not make it…
