Anastasia Potapova and Alexander Shevchenko, both professional tennis players, embarked on a unique honeymoon experience by combining relaxation with rigorous training in Dubai during the off-season.

Reflecting on their unconventional honeymoon, Potapova humorously remarked, “It wasn’t exactly a vacation! We were practicing every day. But it was nice.”

The couple, aged 22 and 23 respectively, tied the knot in December after publicly announcing their relationship earlier in the year. Shevchenko’s proposal in September, during a rendezvous in Germany, caught Potapova by surprise, adding a delightful twist to their love story.

“I thought I would just spend a few days with him, and so it was in the hotel room, with the ring under the pillow,” Potapova recalled fondly. “It wasn’t something big, it was quiet and personal. That’s what I like about Sasha and me: we don’t like to be super social. He kept it quiet and I like that.”

Potapova, currently ranked No. 33 in the world, is experiencing a career-best run at the BNP Paribas Open, demonstrating her focus and determination both on and off the court. Her victory over Nadia Podoroska in the fourth round highlights her prowess and commitment to excellence.

The tennis couple’s preference for a low-key lifestyle resonates in Potapova’s sentiments about enjoying quiet moments together. “It feels like I have two people in my head…I do think, though, that the older I get, the quieter I’ve become,” she reflects. “I’ve never been a party girl, it’s not my preferred way of spending the weekends, but I’ve been more outgoing in the past. Now I don’t like to go anywhere, stay home and watch Netflix with my dog and my husband.”

Potapova’s appreciation for the simplicity of life amidst the bustling atmosphere of the Indian Wells Tennis Garden underscores her grounded nature and her ability to find joy in the everyday moments shared with her loved ones.

As the tennis season progresses, fans eagerly anticipate witnessing Potapova and Shevchenko’s continued success both on and off the court, celebrating their unique bond and unwavering dedication to their craft.
