Carlos Alcaraz reveals that looking at the negative comments hurts his feelings

Carlos Alcaraz stated that the negative comments he receives on social media affect him even though he is making an effort to play at his best once more.

Alcaraz Playing A Shot

Carlos Alcaraz said that despite attempting to perform at his peak again, the criticism he gets on social media has an impact on him. After Novak Djokovic interrupted him for seven weeks, the Spaniard won the Indian Wells tournament and went back to the top of the world rankings just a year ago. He does not appear to be at his peak right now.

Since the Cincinnati Open in August 2023, the 20-year-old tennis player has not advanced to the tournament final. For the most part, this should come as no surprise to Tour players, but for Alcaraz, this is uncommon.

Alcaraz says it’s been difficult to see criticism of him on social media lately, but he’s making an effort to be honest and enjoy every second of playing the game.

Alcaraz expressed his thoughts about it and said: “I think for me, it’s a little bit difficult to be myself, let’s say, the last few months or the past few tournaments. I was trying to enjoy every match and every point, but it was difficult for me to stay there in high intensity and high pressure, let’s say. It was difficult for me to deal with it, but I tried to stay away from everything and, you know, enjoy the court.”

He further said: “I think that’s the most important thing for me. As I said many times, I’m a guy who sees a lot of the phone, and I see a lot of comments that people leave you. Most of them are really good ones, but a few of them are bad ones. It’s difficult to deal with it. That’s what I’m trying to do—stay away from everything, be myself, and enjoy every time that I step on the court.”
