Djokovic aiming at playing the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles

Novak Djokovic, the top-ranked player in the world, will be 41 years old when the Los Angeles Games begin, but he hasn't ruled out contending for an Olympic gold medal in 2028.

By the time the Los Angeles Games arrive, Novak Djokovic will be 41, but he hasn’t ruled out going for an Olympic gold medal in 2028.

The 36-year-old Serb has won a men’s record 24 Grand Slam titles, but in his four Olympic appearances, he has only achieved a bronze. This summer in Paris, he will have another chance to enhance his medal total.

Djokovic said with a smile when asked about LA 2028 at an Indian Wells press conference on Thursday: “Everything is on the cards; I just don’t know how many cards I have left. It’s still far to think about the Los Angeles Olympic Games but the thought of them excites me. I’d love to play that but I can’t commit to that yet.”

Djokovic stated that he will assess his physical and mental well-being regularly. He added: “It’s becoming harder and harder but I still love this sport and have been competing at the highest level. I am still No. 1 so I feel that at the moment I want to keep going and keep trying to make history.”

Currently ranked no.1, Djokovic played his last match on the 26th of January when he lost to world no.3 Jannik Sinner 6-1 6-2 6-7(6) 6-3 in the semifinal of the Australian Open (draw).

Until now, during this year Novak has achieved a composed 7-2 record. Novak Djokovic’s latest run at the Australian Open was the best achievement of his season.

Djokovic will play next in Miami (Miami Open). He will start to play the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 18th of March.
