Jannik Sinner won his first Grand Slam title to start the 2024 season after defeating Daniil Medvedev and Novak Djokovic in the final two rounds of the Australian Open. After that, he won the Dutch ATP 500 trophy in Rotterdam two weeks later, losing just one set.
Due to his achievements, the Italian is now ranked No. 3 in the PIF ATP Rankings, which is a career-high. If he matches or surpasses Carlos Alcaraz’s performance at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, he will move up to No. 2 in the rankings. Sinner finds plenty of opportunity to improve, even as he considers his ideal 12-0 start to the season.
Sinner said in his pre-tournament press conference: “I think tennis is a good sport because you can always set new goals. It doesn’t matter what kind of title you win. Next week is a good week and a good opportunity to do something great again. In my mind, I know that there are some important points for me to have a better ranking. This kind of motivation just keeps pushing me and of course, even more importantly, it’s to become a better tennis player every week. So we will work. It doesn’t matter what the result is in the tournaments; we will keep working and hopefully, I can get to 100 percent in every single department.”
He added: “I always think and believe that you live in moments. It was a positive and special moment. But then you have to do it over again. You have to wake up in the morning and work again. And if you lose, you live this negative moment, but you don’t live your career with this. I have maybe a little bit of a different point of view on how to celebrate these kinds of things. We had fun for one day, but then everyone went home, and that’s how we deal a little bit with all this.”

WWWWWWWWLW Now ranked no.3 (career-high), Jannik played his last match on the 18th of February when he overcame world no.10 Alex De Minaur 7-5 6-4 in the final in Rotterdam to win his 13th career title.
During this season the Italian owns a compiled 12-0 record. Sinner clinched 2 titles in 2024 at the Australian Open and Rotterdam.
Sinner has scheduled to play next in Miami (Miami Open). He will start to play the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 18th of March.
