Murray cautions against putting Sinner and Alcaraz into an early potential rivalry

Andy Murray is against Carlos Alcaraz, entering an early rivalry with Jannik Sinner. The 36-year-old recently said that there was no guarantee the two men would be able to team up with Daniil Medvedev to form a new Big Three.

Murray Talks About Alcaraz And Sinner Rivalry

Andy Murray is against Carlos Alcaraz, who is engaging in an early rivalry with Jannik Sinner. Recently, the 36-year-old stated that there was no assurance the two guys would be able to form a new Big Three with Daniil Medvedev. The former world No. 1 has now clarified that, while he thinks Sinner and Alcaraz will fight for majors over the next ten years, he prefers to see their rivalry develop organically rather than forcing it.

During the height of his career, Murray competed for the greatest titles against Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic. Since Federer retired and Nadal is nearing the end of his career due to injuries, the tennis world has been searching for the next players to take their positions.

Sinner and Alcaraz seem like the obvious choices. They have previously played seven matches, defeated world No. 1 Djokovic in significant victories, and each holds at least one Grand Slam trophy. Murray recently acknowledged that he wasn’t sure Alcaraz, Sinner, and Medvedev could replicate the Big Three, asserting that it took time to produce anything of that caliber.

Murray has already issued a clarification to his remarks, warning supporters against pressuring Alcaraz and Sinner into an artificial position when their rivalry would probably develop naturally.

Murray said: “I don’t think there’s a specific number of matches that people have to play. I just think it has to be natural and organic. I feel a little bit like since Roger stopped and Rafa’s been injured, I know there’s a need for new rivalries to come and they will but it doesn’t have to be forced.”

He continued: “Jannik and Carlos will play many great matches against each other and they’re going to be competing for Major for the next 10 years or so, I believe. And hopefully, there will be more guys that come through to challenge them and create more brilliant stories. And then it’s gone on to having rivalries with Roger, Rafa, and Novak, and there will be new ones. We don’t have to force it and worry about it happening. I’m convinced it will happen naturally.”
