At the Movistar Chile Open on Thursday, Sebastian Baez earned his way back into the winner’s column, four days after winning his fifth and greatest ATP Tour title in Rio de Janeiro. The second-seeded Argentine began his campaign at the ATP 250 with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory over Juan Pablo Varillas.

On a winning streak of six matches, Baez will go into his 16th tour-level quarterfinal (9-6) encounter. He finishes February with an 11-2 record, having advanced to the semifinals in Cordoba and the quarterfinals in Buenos Aires.

The Rio Open winner Baez has moved into the top 10, and Jannik Sinner is in the lead in the updated ATP Race for this week. It means Baez is close to Novak Djokovic, Sinner, and Carlos Alcaraz in the ATP Rankings.

Now ranked no.19 (career-high), the Argentine played his last match on the 3^rd of March when he defeated world no.39 Alejandro Tabilo 3-6 6-0 6-4 in the final in Santiago to win his 6^th career title.

At the moment, during this season the Argentine owns a composed 16-5 win-loss record. Baez conquered 2 titles in 2024 in Rio de Janeiro and Santiago.

Novak Djokovic in 2024

Now ranked no.1, Djokovic played his last match on the 26^th of January when he surrendered to world no.3 Jannik Sinner 6-1 6-2 6-7(6) 6-3 in the semifinal of the Australian Open (draw).

Jannik Sinner in 2024

Currently the world no.3 (career-high), Jannik played his last match on the 18^th of February when he overcame world no.10 Alex De Minaur 7-5 6-4 in the final in Rotterdam to win his 13^th career title.

Currently, during this season the Italian has a 12-0 win-loss record. Sinner has won 2 titles in 2024 at the Australian Open and Rotterdam.

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner played each other 8 times. The head to head is 4-4. Previously, the last time they fought against each other, Jannik Sinner won 7-6(4) 6-1 in the semifinal in Beijing (China Open) in October 2023.
