Tennis icon Rafael Nadal opens up about the joys and challenges of fatherhood after welcoming his first child, son Rafael, in October 2022 with wife Maria Francisca Perelló.
In a recent press conference with E! News, Nadal candidly shared his experience navigating parenthood, admitting, “Everything surprises you because everything is new… So you learn every day, and every day is unexpected.”
Drawing from his own childhood and fond memories spent with younger relatives, Nadal expressed his comfort with kids, remarking, “I have always been a kids guy… I always enjoyed spending time with the kids.”
Despite the newness of parenthood, Nadal expressed gratitude for his son’s health, stating, “I am lucky that for the moment the baby is doing very well. We are happy.”
Nadal’s reflections on fatherhood come amidst his return to the tennis court after a hiatus due to a hip injury. His participation in the inaugural Netflix Slam, where he faced off against Carlos Alcaraz, marked a significant milestone in his comeback journey.
Although the exhibition match ended in a dramatic victory for Alcaraz, Nadal’s return to competitive tennis signals a promising resurgence following his injury-induced absence.
