Max Eisenbud, Emma Raducanu’s agent, has shown his support for the British player after her recent poor performance. Raducanu’s 2021 US Open title victory garnered international attention. She created history by being the first Open Era qualifier to win a Grand Slam trophy.
The British player’s only WTA victory so far is at Flushing Meadows, as she has struggled to find impressive success since then.
Raducanu made her comeback to competition in the 2024 ASB Classic after an eight-month injury break. She defeated Elena-Gabriela Ruse in her opening-round match, but she was upset by Elina Svitolina in the next round.
Raducanu has supporters, including her agent, despite the criticism she has received for her recent decline in performance. Eisenbud, who has previously collaborated with Maria Sharapova, recently made an appearance on a podcast where he urged critics not to be harsh to Raducanu.
He expressed his thoughts about Raducanu and said: “I just think people should not be malicious. I think anything else is fair game if you want to rip her serve or you want to rip that she hasn’t won three matches in a row. I think just don’t be malicious to her because the girl did everything backward. She skipped every step.”
He added: “She is still figuring it out; it was very hard what she did. She is a really good tennis player, and I think she’s going to figure it out. Once she gets to the second week of a tournament, she is not going to be afraid to win it when there are a lot of people who are afraid to win it. I think she showed her nerve, and what she did had that champion quality that I believe you can’t teach. It’s going to happen again for her.”
Emma Raducanu’s agent, Max Eisenbud, says people can be critical of her game, but it’s not right to be malicious to her:
