Bryan advanced to the Mexican Open quarterfinals in 1994. With the victory on Monday, his son has moved one step closer to accomplishing the same thing.

Thirty years after his father’s quarterfinal run, Tennis TV greeted Shelton’s victory in Acapulco with great anticipation. On social media, they posted a picture of the two players along with the words, “Like father, like son.”

Shelton reshared the post in his Instagram stories and wrote: “Been a little minute.”
