Stefanos Tsitsipas talks about his back injury and changing service motion

To avoid more injuries, Stefanos Tsitsipas has started modifying his service motion, and he finds it to be an interesting experience.

Tsitsipas Ready To Play A Shot

Recently, Stefanos Tsitsipas has started adjusting his service motion to prevent further injuries, and it’s been an interesting experience for him.

Players don’t usually make many changes to the service. You might notice small modifications here and there, but because it’s so embedded, it usually stays the same. It’s really important for a player like Tsitsipas because the serve is a powerful tool.

Recently, the Greek has been suffering from some problems, particularly with his back. He’s been experimenting with his serve to prevent injuries, and he revealed it at the 2024 Australian Open.

Tsitsipas expressed his thoughts about it and said: “I don’t see it as something negative in my game. I might not have had the best first-serve percentages at the beginning of the match today, but it’s something that I’m trying to put into my game, perhaps with consistency and other things that can help me, avoiding rotating and keeping my body a bit more compact on contact points.”

Tsitsipas believes the new move won’t have a significant effect on him, but it will take some time to master. The primary modification was that he eliminated the so-called platform and moved his feet much closer together.

He added: “There are a few things that I’m trying to adjust. Of course, I haven’t spent too much time on it, so I’m on and off, depending on my personal feelings. I will continue; I will see. As you can see, there are a lot of players out there who are serving in that particular way, and they have very good serves, so it’s not something that we haven’t seen in tennis before. It’s used by a lot of top players.”
