Becker: Kyrgios is the most interesting character

The current “tennis era” is full of great players, but something is missing: big personalities.

This is what Boris Becker thinks about the current state of tennis as the top guys such as Federer, Nadal and Djokovic are “too correct” while the “real characters” such as Janowicz, Gulbis and Kyrgios struggle to find their ways.

Kyrgios is at the early stages of his career and he still needs to find his way around the pro-circuit (sledging Wawrinka and his girlfriend doesn’t really help). According to Becker he will find his way.

Becker: Kyrgios is the most interesting character

During a recent interview Boris commented “Probably the most interesting character that comes up is Nick Kyrgios. He’s popular for the wrong reasons. He’s a really good tennis player, and he has what it takes. He’s just a little bit confused about what’s important nowadays.

What happened at Wimbledon and the US hard court season was a learning curve for him. If he gets his mentality together, if he gets the right guys around him, he’s a future No.1. Tennis needs stars. Tennis needs people to carry it to different places. He looks different, he speaks different, he acts different. He needs to win a couple of tournaments, then we’ll like him.”
