World number two tennis player, Carlos Alcaraz, shared his aspirations during an interview with MARCA following a visit to the governor of Rio de Janeiro at the Palacio das Laranjeiras. Alcaraz, regarded as the favorite to win the Rio Open, reflected on his desire to compete against the legendary Rafael Nadal once more before Nadal retires from professional tennis.
In response to a question about the possibility of playing against Nadal again, Alcaraz expressed his eagerness, stating, “Of course I would like to, wherever it is. I would like to face him again, to compete against him, that face to face on the court… I would like to experience it one or two more times. As many as possible. It would be incredible to be able to play him again.”

Now ranked no.652, Nadal played his last match on the 5th of January when he lost to world no.40 Jordan Thompson 5-7 7-6(6) 6-3 in the quarter in Brisbane (draw).

He is also scheduled to play in Indian Wells (BNP Paribas Open) on the 6th of March and Barcelona (Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell) on the 15th of April.
