Roberta Vinci should not be a very popular name with the Williams’ family. The Italian has pulled out one of the biggest upsets in tennis history after beating Serena in the US Open semifinal and now she “f-Bomb” (a sort of… in Italian) at Venus.
What happened?
INnthe Wuhan semifinal Roberta and Venus where playing the 3rd set tiebreak after an incredible decider when the Italian won 4 consecutive games to lead 6-5 from being 2-5 down. Eventually Roberta failed to serve-out the match and she wasn’t happy with Venus in the breaker when the American was taking far too much time in between points (… and the umpire?). Venus slowed down Roberta also on the match point after the Italian netted the first serve to say (translated) “What the fuck? Do you want a tea, or coffee maybe?”
Eventually Venus won the match 5-7 6-2 7-6 (4) and the handshake wasn’t that great.
Venus will play Muguruza in the final.
