Rafael Nadal has discussed seeing a psychologist and the significance of players discussing and accepting mental health issues as a normal aspect of life.

Nadal Talks

Rafael Nadal has talked about seeing a psychologist and how important it is for athletes to talk about their mental health and accept it as a natural part of life.

After suffering an injury during his match against Jordan Thompson, Nadal was unable to participate in the Australian Open or any other tournaments.

Recently, Nadal revealed that he has never had any trouble talking about his mental health. He acknowledged that he has seen a psychotherapist twice in his life for separate issues at different times.

Nadal expressed his thoughts about it and said: “I have never had any problem talking about it. I went to a psychologist twice in my life, at two different stages for two different problems I had.”

He claimed that there was no difference between mental health issues and physical pain. Nadal stated that he has always thought of it as an additional, but still the most vital part of the body, and that it is normal and natural.

He added: “If you have pain in your leg, you go to the doctor. Maybe it has been a more taboo subject, but I don’t perceive it this way; I perceive it as something normal and natural; it is just another part of the body and I would say the most important.”
