Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Gilles Simon will face off in the Metz final. This will be a re-match of the 2013 final when Simon won 6-4 6-3.
Tsonga
Jo-Wilfried is trying to win his first title of the season. The Frenchman had a relatively smooth semifinal to defeat Kohlschreiber 6-3 6-4. Tsonga commented “I’m very happy to be in the final. I already played in three finals here and won two. In French, we always say ‘never two without three’ so I hope I will do it.”
Simon
Gilles had a great tournament to defeat all his opponents in straight (and easy) sets. In the semis Gilles defeated Klizan 6-4 6-4. Simon has great memories of Metz to comment “It’s great to be in the final in Metz. I have a lot of memories. It’s one of my most successful tournaments. Every time I won it, I had a child in the month before. My wife and my son being here in 2013 and lifting the trophy in front of them was a nice memory.”
Head to head
Tsonga leads Simon 6-3.
