Serena Williams loves fashion and what’s better than being featured on the well-known Pirelli Calendar?
The big change
Renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz is in charge for shooting the 2016 Pirelli Calendar and she wants to portrait women that have achieved something important. Serena Williams is the obvious choice.
“This calendar is so completely different. It is a departure. The idea was not to have any pretense in these pictures and be very straightforward.
I started to think about the roles that women play, women who have achieved something. I wanted to make a classic set of portraits. I thought that the women should look strong but natural and I decided to keep it a very simple exercise of shooting in the studio.”
Amy Schumer, Yoko Ono, Natalia Vodianova, Kathleen Kennedy and Selma director Ava DuVernay will also be part of the calendar.
