Ranked world no.47 (career-high), the Chinese played his last match on the 13^th of February when he lost to world no.57 Alexander Shevchenko 4-6 6-4 6-3 in the 1^st round in Rotterdam (draw).

At present, during this year Zhang achieved a composed 4-5 record.

Zhang is scheduled to compete next in Doha (Qatar ExxonMobil Open). He will start the tournament from the main draw that will commence on the 19th of February.
