The Spaniard decided to play his first tournament after the Australian summer in Buenos Aires where he is seeded no.1 in the local ATP 250. Now the world no.2, the Spaniard played his last match on the 24th of January when he was defeated by world no.6 Alexander Zverev 6-1 6-3 6-7(2) 6-4 in the quarter of the Australian Open (draw).
