ATP not happy with Murray not playing the World Tour Finals

Andy Murray has achieved 8 of the 9 victories to give a decisive help to Great Britain to reach a historic Davis Cup final. The Scott is extremely committed to win this trophy, but to do that he needs to be again at the very top of his form as in order to beat Belgium he is expected once again to win 3 consecutive best of 5 matches during another (very) long weekend.

Unfortunately the final will be played the weekend after the World Tour Finals and it should take place on clay (the WTF are played on hard courts), and Murray believes he doesn’t have much time to get ready.

Murray has recently stated that he might skip the World Tour Finals to be ready for the Davis Cup and the ATP wasn’t happy about that

Kermode: We expect Murray to play

The ATP President Chris Kermode is in great terms with the Murray’s family, but in this case he wasn’t very happy to say “The Barclays ATP World Tour Finals is a mandatory event on the ATP World Tour and all players who qualify, unless injured, are required to compete in the event.

“He [Murray] has had a fantastic season and earned his place among the world’s top eight players to compete at the season finale.

We are aware of the comments made after the Davis Cup tie in Glasgow. However our expectations are that, if fully fit, Andy would compete in this year’s tournament.

Unless we hear otherwise via an official withdrawal, he is still entered to compete at the O2.”

And now???
