Aneke Rune, the mother of the young tennis player Holger Rune, recently sought to explain why her son and his coach, Severin Luthi, were no longer together.

Having followed Holger since the start of his career, Aneke has played a crucial part in his development. Among other things, Rune’s mother made it clear that the parties held very different opinions. Luthi wanted to see Holger calmer, more focused, and less wasteful of his energy. But rather than being a waste of energy, she and Holger consider this to be one of Rune’s strongest traits.

Aneke expressed her thoughts about this development in a recent podcast and said: “We were naive in making some decisions but we also thought about the fact that he had been Roger Federer’s coach. I thought, Damn, he won 20 Slams with Roger! While we are the maximum number 7 in the world, he can give us a lot.”

It is surprising that Boris Becker also bid the Rune team farewell abruptly, only a week after Luthi did. Rune has been in the news recently for some dramatic staff farewells and arrivals.
