Murray may miss the WTF to play the Davis Cup

Andy is thinking about not playing the season finale

Andy Murray has just given a historic Davis Cup final to Great Britain and he is already thinking about missing the season’s finale to be ready that final.

Why Murray may not play the World Tour Finals?

Andy has already qualified for the World Tour Finals, but that competition will happen just 1 week before the Davis Cup final that will be probably played on clay. “The O2 would obviously be a question mark for me if we were playing on the clay. I would go and train and prepare on the clay to get ready for the final.

You saw last year with Roger Federer that the matches at the O2 are extremely tough and physically demanding.

If you reach the final and play on the Sunday you also need to take time off – you can’t just play five matches against the best players in the world and then not take any days off.”

I need more time for my back

Then Andy added “For me to play – if I was to reach the final – five in a row and then take a couple of days off, it would mean only playing for two days on the clay before the Davis Cup final starts and that wouldn’t be enough for me.

I need more time on the clay to let my back get used to it.”

If you consider that Belgium is definitely expected to choose the clay courts (the least favorite surface for Murray) and if Andy “fails” to win all 3 points his team will definitely lose… well you expect that the Scott will put all his effort in it.
